Dear Blue Valley West Football Parents,
In less then a month our boys will be in helmets and pads! Thank you to all of the families that have been helping thus far and also to those who have sent in their memberships. As the season draws closer our Red Zone activities are starting to increase so I want to give you an update and ask for your support once again.
Membership/Dues and Fundraising
We have received 90 memberships to date. That is about 50% of what we are expecting and need to support the team. Attached is the 2009 Red Zone Membership Form. If you haven't already joined, please print and complete this form as soon as possible and mail it to Jeanine Lingle. Her address is on the form. If you are unable to join or choose not to participate, please contact me via email or by phone otherwise, we are counting on your timely support!
Spirit Wear is available on our web site www.teamfirst.orgby clicking on the Spirit Wear link on the left or you can go directly to http://www.bluechipathletic.com/bvwfb and order online. You can also get to the team web site by going to the Blue Valley West High School web site and clicking on athletics, fall sports and football. All proceeds go to support the football team. The deadline to order is 7/31.
Football Game Program Ads and Parent Sponsorships are now available and will be published with the first Varsity game on September 4th. Email Greg Martinette at gregm19@kc.rr.com to get your family name or business added for the first publication.
Mark your calendars for the Silent Auction and Poker Tournament to be held on Sunday, August 23rd immediately following Coach Wright's parent meeting. History tells us it is sure to be a fun filled evening with good food, friends and auction items. Watch for more communication coming soon.
Volunteers Needed
There is something for everyone and we need everyone's help. We need individuals for leadership positions, chairperson positions and committee helpers. The entire list and descriptions are shown below. Openings are noted in red text. Please take a look and let me know as soon as possible which areas you can help.

We are looking for two to three people who would be interested in serving as an officer for the 2010 season after Denise and I “graduate.” These positions for 2009 would shadow the current officers as they perform their duties and prepare you to take over for the 2010 season. Ideally these would be 2009 sophomore parents.

The chairperson is responsible for coordinating the fun event donated by the Red Zone to raise funds at auction. Ideally this would be a 2009 JUNIOR parent. Last year, the item donated was a “Dinner with Coach Fitz” and the chairperson hosted the dinner and coordinated the volunteers. The auction committee will help determine the event which can be the same or something new. This is one to have fun with!
Red Zone Reserved Parking Chairperson - Jayne Hillman

Ideally this chairperson would be a FRESHMAN OR SOPHOMORE parent and involves coordinating the volunteers who set up the reserved parking signs at the five home games.
Red Zone Suites Chairperson – Kim Pepper

Ideally this chairperson would be a 2009 JUNIOR or SOPHOMORE parent who would be responsible for coordinating the volunteers for the Home Game Suites donated by Red Zone to raise funds at auction. This year the suites auctioned included a pre-game tailgate meal, reserved parking and reserved seating on the fifty yard line.

By special request, Coach Wright has asked that we staff the sideline chain positions for each sub-varsity game. We need chairpersons for each class to coordinate the volunteers for the game schedule and we need LOTS of helpers. This is especially recommended for Dads or Moms who love to be close to the action. If each family takes a turn we should have more then enough volunteers!
