Dear Red Zone Parents,The planning for 2008 has officially begun! Thanks to all of the parents who were able to attend the first Red Zone meeting of the 2008 season as well as the many emails of support volunteering to help etc.Below is important information from the meeting if you were not able to attend or know of someone needing the information. Our distribution lists, as always at this point in time, are not complete so pass this along and encourage others to get their email and membership updated.Attached is the 2008 Membership Registration Form. If you haven't already joined, help insure we have enough operating funds on hand. Please print and complete this form quickly and get it to Jill Blackmon. The address is on the form. Introductions and Roles
This year we have a full slate of officers:
Denise Swickard will serve as Vice President overseeing a large portion of our committees.
Jill Blackmon will serve as Treasurer responsible for our financial reporting, funds collection and expense reimbursement.
Debi Apple will serve as Secretary responsible for our distribution lists and rosters and distributing our correspondence
The four of us will hold meetings at least bi-monthly and include the chair people from our primary fundraising committees.
Budget and Membership Dues
Overall, we spent more then we collected in 2007. Primary reasons were the longer year and additional associated expense, expense associated with the Liberal away game and lastly, we did not receive membership dues from the number of families expected. However, we were able to pay for the additional expense with a larger then normal carryover from 2006 and larger then normal auction proceeds and still have an appropriate balance to begin 2008.
Dues for 2008 will be $40 for freshman families and $50 for grades 10-12. We are budgeting that we will collect dues from a greater percentage of our families this year and raise similar average amounts from prior years from the auction and poker tournament, spirit wear and sponsor donations.
Members can help insure we have enough operating funds on hand by submitting their 2008 dues as soon as possible and encouraging others to do the same.
Communications
Most of the general communication this year will be forwarded by Debi Apple. She will maintain the most current membership distribution list. Watch for her email address (debidoo056@yahoo.com ).
You will also receive information from your class coordinator. They are:

Football spirit wear will be available again this year. Watch for upcoming information.
Yard signs can be purchased though the PTO by going to the BVW web site.
The coach plans to continue to hold pre-game dinners on the Thursday afternoon/evening prior to the Friday night Varsity games. That time period will also continue to include a study hall.
The end of season banquet will again be held at the Ritz Charles.
