The Jags started out ready to play, but things did not start out quite as planned. Even though things were tough, the team refused to give up, refused to let themselves get down, and worked their way through the challenges. They battled through three quarters of back-and-forth football with some outstanding pass plays maintaining a tie score. Head's up play by the defense in the fourth quarter to recover an Emporia fumble set up the winning score. Leading the game for the first time in the final minutes of the fourth quarter the defense shifted into overdrive and sacked the quarterback twice, stopping Emporia cold and preventing them from scoring. The Jags came away with win number ONE for the 2006 season.
